詳情內容

Anyone who has experienced fencing will appreciate that it is a sport that would not only help to develop the body, but provide challenge to the mind as well as increase one's self-confidence. Scoring or losing a hit on the piste very often depends on how determined a fencer is to win that point. All these aside, fencers are required to maintain a level of civility and courtesy way above that expected in other sports. This kind of environment makes it easy for young people to develop personality, style and charisma.

Ever since our inauguration in 1949, the Hong Kong Amateur Fencing Association have always worked towards achieving the primary goal of popularising the sport, at the same time endeavouring to raise the overall standard in fencing and securing good results in international competitions.

Through the increasing efforts of our members and other organizations, in particular the Hong Kong Sports Development Board, the Hong Kong Sports Institute, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, as well as its predecessors - the two Municipal Councils, fencing has widened its base significantly at the grassroots. The continual success of our fencers in outside competitions has put the Hong Kong flag in the international sporting arena.

At present, fencing courses are held in a host of schools, colleges as well as private organizations, and there are competitions for fencers at different levels. Through regular training and competition, new blood will continue to emerge and this is indicative of the increasing momentum of our sport.

On the occasion of the new millenium, the Association has designed this web page. Other than recording snap shots of our past, present and future for interested parties, we hope to provide a space for our friends to communicate and exchange ideas with us thereby further enhance our comradeship.

We sincerely welcome suggestions and comments to help us improve this web page and work forward to sharing the fruits of our endeavours with you.
