Your Safety and Health are our Concerns
Yoga Central was established in May 1999 by Robin Tassie as Hong Kong's first purpose-built yoga studio. Since then, it has earned the reputation as a centre dedicated to personalized and quality teachings with care and attention to each and every yoga student. Karen took over the management of the studio since 2006 and believes in offering the studio to busy professionals to gain energy, poise from yoga in the heart of this vibrant city.
Yoga Central is a 'boutique' studio - no membership nor subscriptions required - and all classes are limited to 15 students (workshop size may vary by nature). Visitors and people looking for a good venue to train their physique and revigorate their energy would be best suited to our yoga classes without commitment. Our mission is to encourage yoga practice to the community at large for better access to our core body and inner space while toning our physical body and sharpening our mind and spirit.
Conveniently located in Central close to the MTR, the studio is light, airy and tranquil and offers a welcome breathing space in the heart of the city. With a specially installed hard wood floor, ceiling fans and air-conditioning, it is fully equipped with yoga props including mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, chairs and wall-ropes.
The Yoga & Teachers~
Yoga Central offers all-level classes and a wide variety of classes for practitioners who would like to try Hatha, Iyengar, Kids and Prenatal Yoga. Private and group classes are most welcome.
Aishah, Gaelle, Karen, Ursula are principal teachers there. They compose one of the more passionate and practical teaching teams in town as these yoga instructors have drawn on years of personal practice and training along the lineage of one of the most disciplined, scientific and respected teachers, Mr. BKS Iyengar. They only teach what they learnt and practised, which must be safe and adjustable to different body types. The studio encourages teachers to continue their study, so they can integrate the postural alignment, breathing techniques and meditation to create an inspirational class of physical movement, breath work and spirituality.
The studio hosts Iyengar workshops by Sue & Peter Scott from time to time. As a compliment to yoga, the studio has mat-based Pilates classes which aim to strengthen the core body to improve posture and are ideal for post-natal mothers as a way of regaining core support and stability by Ruth.
To promote healthy yoga practice to the business community, the studio welcomes any corporate enquiries for staff program or special workshops to suit their corporate needs for yoga practice.
Please check our schedule to find out in detail about the classes and news on special offers.
