Selkirk Rex, a naturally curly cat originated from a housecat - Miss DePersto of Noface, found in a shelter in Montana. Her unusual curl raise the attention of a Persian breeder, Jeri Newman of Montana, who bred her to CH PhotoFinish of Deekay, a black Persian. There were three curly kittens out of six. Proving that unlike the Devon Rex and Cornish Rex, the gene proved to be dominant. Because the gene is dominant, curly kittens can be born in the same litter with straight haired kittens.
Miss Depesto of Noface was breed 5 times, once to PhotoFinish, twice to Oscar, one to Mr. Rogers and once to a shaded golden Persian - CH Razberrilanc Purrpower of Big Sky.
In more than 10 years, Selkirk Rex breeders form around the world worked together to develop the breed that would be accepted into the Cat fanciers Association. Finally On May 2000, the Selkirk Rex advanced into Championship Status in CFA.
2002, Ms Anna Lui from curly Burly Cattery introduced the first Selkirk Rex to Hong Kong. I was already attracted by their beautiful shape and sweet temperanment . By the end of 2004 my first Selkirk Rex- Insiders' Wendelin of La Chatamanc arrived from Germany!
