To complement the exhibition of “The Splendours of Royal Costume: Qing Court Attire” which will be held from 31st July, 2013 to 7th Oct, 2013, Hong Kong Museum of History and Hong Kong Design Centre will jointly organize a series of public art & design education projects, including the “Discovering Qing – Fashion Design Competition” which is coordinated by the Institute of Textiles and Clothing (ITC) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The theme of the competition is “Qing Court Attire”. It is open to all local young fashion design students and graduates, cultivating their creativity to design attires with a blend of tradition and modernity. Entries of the 20 shortlisted contestants will be featured in the Museum of History with “The Splendours of Royal Costume: Qing Court Attire” exhibition. Winning designs will be displayed by catwalk show at the Opening Ceremony of the exhibition which is a valuable experience to the finalists.
The judging session will be adjudicated by a panel of judges comprising renowned fashion designers, fashion journalists, industrialists and the competition presenters. Prizes include:
Production cost and allowance | Each finalist will receive HK$4,000 as the production costs associated with their collection |
Champion | Cash prize HK$30,000, trophy and certificate of merit |
First Runner-up | Cash prize HK$20,000, trophy and certificate of merit |
Second Runner-up | Cash prize HK$10,000, trophy and certificate of merit |
Finalists | Certificate of merit |
