With the effect brought about by CEPA, Hong Kong has now becoming the major re-export site for cosmetic products. This has created a big demand for professional makeup artists. Professional makeup artists use their esthetic creativity in fashion shows, events, and bridal services and also work as beauty consultants.

Japan is one of the most successful countries in leading the world’s makeup trends. To cope with the growing and immediate need for professional makeup artists, the HKMA PRIME organizes the "Professional Makeup Artist Certificate Programme", which prepare participants to attain the professional makeup techniques from Japan.

The programme is suitable for those who want to develop their career within the media, television or theatrical make up industries. The whole programme is divided into Essential Level (Part I & II) and Advanced Level (Part I & II), which can be completed in around 1 year.

Professional Makeup Artist Certificate Programme – Essential Level
Make-up today plays an essential role in helping to define the way we look, expressing our own unique image, and is always in tune with the latest fashion trends and looks.

The Essential Level is divided into 2 parts, designed for those who don’t have prior knowledge in make-up. The course is designed to develop students’ basics and fundamentals of make-up techniques through enhancing their awareness of different skin types, line, shape, form, color and texture. The knowledge gained is invaluable in the design and application of both make up and hair.

Through the course, students will do a lot of exercise making up models, analysing different kind of skins and shape of faces in relation with the specific image that they want to obtain.

Participants are required to take an internal examination at the end of the course. Those who satisfy 70% in-class attendance and pass the internal examination will be awarded a certificate by the HKMA.

Total lecture hours (per part):
24 hours (8 sessions, 3 hours per session )

Course Fee : HK$3,750(per part, total 2 parts)**

Professional Makeup Artist Certificate Programme – Advanced Level
The Advanced Level is divided into 2 parts, designed for those who have completed the "Professional Makeup Artist Certificate Programme – Essential Level" or those who have fundamental knowledge in make-up.

The course will introduce students to the practical, theoretical and creative skills required for fashion or media make up, hairstyling techniques and the development of a portfolio. Students will be tutored and guided in the development of character and historical makeup, body adornment and bruising. After completing the course, participants are able to perform a variety of skills, which allow them to select suitable techniques and products to create a variety of looks for TV, film, theatre and wedding.

Participants are required to take an internal examination at the end of the course. Those who satisfy 70% in-class attendance and pass the internal examination will be awarded a certificate by the HKMA.

30 hours (10 sessions, 3 hours per session )
