Omtis Fine Wines & Spirits The history of the Far East is full of bold and daring adventurers heading into unknown territory in search of fortune. Some of them became the founders of important Hong Kong businesses, as familiar to us today as they were to our parent and grandparents.
OMTIS Ltd, which stands for Overseas Marketing, Trading and Investment Services, is precisely such a business, with the family connection still much in evidence today. Headed by Raymond Bera since 1979, its roots trace back to Shanghai in the early twenties when Raymond's uncle, Dario, and father, Albert, set up a trading company.
In true entrepreneurial spirit, they developed and invested in businesses as diverse as :
One of the first cinemas in Shanghai screening movies imported from the United States;
A Swiss Watch Brand MAGNO, with manufacturing facilities in La Chaux-de-Fonds which produced fashionable pocket watches with large sales in China. This marked the beginning of the company's watch business, which grew to become its core activity for many decades;
a semi-industrial operation carving semi-precious stones, such as Tiger Eye Tiger Eye Stones imported from Brazil, and exporting cameos Cameos to the USA;
The first foreign owned luxury jewellery store "Bijoux Beraha" which was renowned for its exquisite designs and craftsmanship. It was later transferred to Hong Kong where it opened in 1964 under the name "DABERA" The Dabera Jewellery Shop opened in 1964. The Dabera Jewellery Shop opened in 1964. . Headed by a Swiss Master Jeweller, it earned international recognition with several awards such as the Diamond International Award and the Goldene Muschel and served at least two generations of sophisticated customers.
Demand for jewellery and quality Swiss watches was growing rapidly. In 1932, the Company became the Sole Distributor in China of the Swiss Watch Brands Omega A movie star in the old days posing in front of Omega watches. An Omega advertisement in the old days. and Tissot, an important milestone in the Company's history. In 1949, the business was transferred to Hong Kong, and in 1954 became known as the Omtis Group, a dynamic and diversified Company, with its Headquarters now located in Admiralty Centre, at the heart of Hong Kong's Central District.
Through changing times, expansion and diversification, Omtis has adhered firmly to its policy of involvement in luxury products, quality services and projects.
This policy, coupled with sound business acumen and vision, assured continued growth and prosperity over the past 80 years.
