Miss Chan 2015年榮獲獎學金前往三藩市音樂學院就讀鋼琴演奏碩士學位、並於2017年畢業、學士學位則於香港浸會大學音樂系及美國萊特州立大學就讀鋼琴演奏完成. Miss Chan已優秀成績(distinction) 考獲演奏級ATCL及八級樂理. 此外、於就學期間贏得多個比賽獲得多個獎項、包括OFMC Agnes Fowler Scholarship Competition, WSU student honor recital competition, Hong Kong Schumann international Youth Piano Competition. 因為成績優異、也獲得多個獎學金, 包括 Dayton Chamber Music Society Scholarship, Music Talent Scholarship .
Miss Chan擁有多個演奏經驗、 除了在校的年度演奏會、 更曾被選中在香港文化中心演出、參與不同的大師班、包括鋼琴大師Leon Fleshier, Sergei Babayan, Garrick Ohlsson 等
Miss Chan在香港及三藩市擁有五年教學經驗、 能以流利英語,普通話及廣東話任教、作為一名鋼琴老師、亦在香港青少年鋼琴大賽中獲邀擔任評審、由於細心和耐性的教導、學生成績傑出 更獲大賽選為最佳年輕導師、她深信每位學生也有他們獨特的潛能和空間、老師需要以個別的教法讓他們能發揮個人的長處、建立他們在音樂上的自信、盡而享受其中
Ms. Dorothy Chan was born in Hong Kong and started studying piano at the age of 8. Ms. Chan had earned the Associate Diploma in Piano (ATCL) from Trinity College London with distinction. She transferred from Hong Kong Baptist University to Wright State University with full scholarship, and it was also where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Piano Performance in 2015. She then continue her study in piano in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with scholarship and gained her master degree with piano performance in 2017. Where she studied with Paul Hersh.
As a pianist, Ms. Chan won numerous piano competitions, including Wright State University School of Music Student Honors Recital Competition, OFMC Agnes Fowler Scholarship Competition and Hong Kong Schumann International Youth Piano Competition. She was also awarded different music scholarships such as the Dayton Chamber Music Society Scholarship, the Music Talent Scholarship at the Wright State University School, and the Agnes Fowler Scholarship at the Ohio Federation of Music Club. Ms. Chan was selected to perform in Hong Kong City Hall as one of the representatives from the Hong Kong Baptist University. She was also chosen to perform for President Hopkins, Deans and Major Donors at the Wright State University. She also had a chance to attend different masterclass with some world renowned pianist, including Leon Fleisher, Sergei Babayan , Garrick Ohlsson..
Ms Dorothy Chan has been teaching in a music school mainly using only English in San Francisco for 2 years, she has also been teaching privately for over 5 years in both Hong Kong and San Francisco, capable with teaching in all three languages, Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
As a teacher, Ms Dorothy Chan believes that every student has the ability to grow musically and technically and it is teacher’s responsibility to inspire, encourage and provide professional guidance to each student individually. She enjoys working with all her students and she takes great pride in her students’ success.
