Hon Lam Learning Centre (part of Hon Lam Mathematics and Music Studio) was established in 2006 with a mission to help overseas and international school students to prepare for major public examinations such as GCE A-Levels, IGCSE, SAT subject tests, IB, etc. Specialising in Mathematics education, HLLC also offers preparation courses for local students taking HKDSE Mathematics (Compulsory & M1/M2). Following the time-honoured Oxbridge tutorial system, HLLC provides individual tutorial classes and small group classes of up to 6 only. The personalised form of teaching permits the tutor to tailor the course to the specific needs of the group and provides the students with opportunities to interact with their tutor and among themselves. Course assignments are marked by the course tutor and students are encouraged to contact the course tutor on follow-up questions. First-time applicants may arrange to meet the course tutor to gain a better understanding of the course practices and curriculum before application.
HLLC is located at Hong Kong Arts Centre in Wan Chai. Its founding tutor, Adrian Hon Chung LAM, is a graduate of the University of Oxford in mathematics and holds an M.Phil degree in music from the University of Hong Kong. Over the years Adrian has been dedicated to curriculum development in mathematics education. He is also in the front line of academic researches and studies on the inter-relationship and the integration of mathematics and music in Hong Kong.
Hon Lam Mathematics and Music Studio also organises interest courses in mathematics and music for different age groups to introduce basic concepts of and develop interest in these subjects. Curriculum of the interest courses is outside usual school syllabus. Such courses are conducted through light teaching, discussions, quizzes and other interest activities. Applicants will be interviewed before commencement of studies to ensure that they will take up the most appropriate course for them.
