Course Description

This programme aims to provide a comprehensive coverage of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) syllabus at all three levels to fully prepare students to sit for the CFA® Examinations at Level 1, 2 and 3. It is ideal for degree holders who require a structured and comprehensive approach to help them prepare for the CFA® Examinations.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Investment Management programme will articulate to the University of Michigan-Dearborn's Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Finance programme. Postgraduate Diploma graduates may be granted up to 4 exemptions towards the M.Sc. in Finance programme. Upon completing a minimum of 6 modules, graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma will be able to earn the M.Sc. in Finance degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Investment Management programme will also articulate to the Curtin University of Technology, Australia's Master of Finance programme. Postgraduate Diploma graduates may be granted up to 6 exemptions towards the Master of Finance programme. Upon completing an additional 6 modules, graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma will be able to earn the Master of Finance degree from the Curtin University of Technology, Australia.

Therefore the Postgraduate Diploma in Investment Management programme will enable students to obtain both professional and academic qualifications.

Duration

33 hours for Module 1 and 42 hours per module for Modules 2-7 (285 total hours). The entire programme can be completed in approximately 1 year.

   2. Analytical Tools for Investment Management
   3. Financial Management
   4. Debt Investments
   5. Equity and Alternative Investments
   6. Derivative Investments
   7. Portfolio Management

Students may be exempted from Module 1 if they have successfully completed an undergraduate level course in Financial Accounting.


Articulation to the University of Michigan-Dearborn's Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Finance (MSF)

Graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Investment Management may be gained admission to University of Michigan-Dearborn's M.Sc. in Finance programme subject to meeting the University's entry requirements. They may be granted up to 4 exemptions suject to satisfying certain performance requirements. Upon completing a minimum of 6 modules, students will be awarded the M.Sc. in Finance Degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The remaining 6 modules that students must complete to fulfill the M.Sc. in Finance degree requirements are:

   1. Economic Analysis: Firm and Consumer
   2. Applied Statistical Modelling
   3. Topics in Corporate Finance
   4. International Financial Management

and 2 elective modules from the following:

   5. Topics in Investments and Captial Markets
   6. Economic Analysis: National and International
   7. Fixed Income Securities
   8. Derivatives and Risk Management  etc.

Articulation to the Curtin University of Technology, Australia's Master of Finance (MFin)

Graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Investment Management may be gained admission to Curtin University of Technology, Australia's Master of Finance programme subject to meeting the University's entry requirements. They may be granted up to 6 exemptions if they meet a minimum GPA requirement of 1.7 in the Postgraduate Diploma.
