Starting out

My Gym was created in 1983, with the first My Gym opening in Santa Monica, California, and expanding in 1989 with the original My Gym founders forming a partnership with Cory Bertisch and Monique Vranesh. Together they used their experience in the fields of sports, dance, early childhood development, kinesiology and gymnastics, to develop a program and facility where children actively participate in a variety of structured, weekly physical education classes to gain social skills and self-esteem.
From 1989 to 1994, they further developed the My Gym programming, refined their custom-made equipment, and fine-tuned their systems of operation.

Our approach

The thrill of accomplishment from achieving a physical task builds self-esteem and confidence that carries over into all aspects of a child's life. Interaction with our highly trained staff provides children with the opportunity to establish warm relationships with compassionate adults, thus raising their level of comfort as they begin preschool/kindergarten. Our My Gym Kids learn more about themselves as they develop independence, self-discipline, social skills and even a sense of humor, all of which lead to an increased feeling of self-worth. A child who feels good about him/herself has a jumpstart on the path to success.
