詳情內容

The Industrial Liaison Office (ILO) in THEi was established as part of the capability building strategy in the 2nd 8-Year Strategic Plan of the Vocational Training Council (VTC).   Its main goal is to strengthen the VTC's capability in applied research and industrial liaison.  In the context of the VTC and THEi, applied research activities focus on the innovative application of technology to solve practical problems encountered by industry.  Such activities will provide professional development opportunities for ILO’s staff, strengthen the partnership between disciplines and industry, bring about new practical knowledge and skills that benefit our students, and improve the range of programmes and services to stakeholders.

Our major roles are:

    To identify opportunities for applied research in a context relevant to the VTC, thereby benefiting the economy and development of Hong Kong;
    To work closely with external parties to identify and build synergies;
    To identify specific strengths of disciplines and, with the support of external expertise, to foster selective applied research activities based on industry needs;
    To provide training/guidance for the development of research proposals and the management of projects;
    To facilitate the development of funding proposals, targeting at specific funding resources;
    To solicit industrial attachments for students in THEi; and
    To solicit pledges of scholarships and fund donations for THEi.

 GE Curriculum

The GE curriculum consists of two parts, core modules and elective modules. In the core part, we adopt a Common Core Curriculum Approach which provides a single, integrated educational experience for all students, with modules that have been specifically created and students taking the same modules in a required sequence.

Within the Common Core Curriculum are the English and Chinese Language modules to improve students’ spoken and written communication skills, and three compulsory modules, one from each of the domains of Humanities (The Human Spirit), Sciences (Habits of Scientific Thinking) and Social Sciences (Social Dynamics of Organisations), whose broad perspectives will be used to examine issues important to society.

Beyond the common core curriculum, students can select elective modules from areas outside their programmes that interest them. This will further broaden their horizons and contribute to the aim of the GE Programme.
