Osage Gallery Profile |
Osage Gallery was established in Hong Kong in 2004 and is devoted to the exhibition and promotion of international and Asian contemporary visual arts. Embracing a global, multidisciplinary, and diverse approach to the creation, presentation and interpretation of the arts of our time, Osage Gallery aims to be a catalyst for the creative expression of artists and the active engagement of audiences. Through its diverse and high quality exhibition, publication and research programmes, Osage Gallery aims to examine the questions that shape and inspire us as individuals, cultures and communities. Osage Gallery now operates major spaces in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Singapore. The flagship, Osage Kwun Tong, in Hong Kong is a spectacular warehouse-style space in an industrial building, providing a permanent venue that is large and flexible enough for the changing demands of contemporary art exhibitions. Osage Gallery’s network of spaces across Asia functions synergistically to explore the diverse and complex artistic relationships between the different regions of Asia, and beyond that, of the artistic relationships between Asia and other parts of the world. The spaces provide an Asian-wide platform for the artists represented by the gallery, who are some of the most exciting and significant in the region. The gallery also works closely with international critics and curators to present exhibitions and projects that address themes and issues relevant to our times. Osage Gallery has organised solo exhibitions by some of the most significant artists in Asia, such as Sun Yuan and Peng Yu, Shen Shaomin and Jiang Zhi from China, as well as other Asian artists such as Wilson Shieh (Hong Kong), Nipan Oranniwesna (Thailand) and Charwei Tsai (Taiwan). In addition, the gallery has also organised major group and thematic exhibitions exploring various aspects of contemporary art practice in Asia, such as Chinese Whispers (2007), Women’s Work (2008), FUTURAMANILA (2008) and Some Rooms (2009). |
