The Wood Shop is a unique furniture shop that differs from other furniture shops. Our difference is in creating each piece of furniture that has its own inherent characteristics instead of manufacturing machine-generated generic furniture.

Appreciating the supreme craftsmanship of our predecessors and their stringent requirements in choosing quality timber, the Wood Shop thrives to follow their footsteps with precision in creating distinctive designs from esoteric to practical.

We also cherish our masters' concept of producing durable furniture that can be used for generations. Keith Lau is our designer. His avant-garde designs often revel our customers. He embraces the intrinsic characteristics of the timber to create contemporary and unique furniture, some of them are so unique that they cannot be duplicated.

Our factory is located at Guangdong, China. It specializes in manufacturing customary Chinese furniture and repairing antique furniture. Our expert craftsmen use traditional nail-less Interlocking Joining Method to produce our designs. Keith Lau works diligently to collaborate with our craftsmen in China to ensure each piece of our furniture has its own characteristic.

The Wood Shop was established in 2002, and has been producing its own distinctive furniture since then. Although the communication process between our designer and the craftsmen is tedious, this uncompromising procedure enables us to produce the quality furniture that our customers can cherish for years to come.

The rapid economic growth of China has caused shortage of land in the city; therefore, many old low-rise buildings are being demolished. Some businessmen take this opportunity to collect these vintage materials: from beams, columns, furniture, doors to equipment for husbandry and live stock farming, like water pails, small boats, pig’s trough...etc. We take the liberty to utilize these ordinary vintage materials to create extraordinary contemporary furniture.

Elm wood is an essential timber in house construction and carpentry, because of its toughness, versatility, and rustic nature. These characteristics coincide with Keith Lau's design concepts that produce the effects he desires.

Battered old front doors have endured severe weather over 50 years; the erosion throughout the years has brought out the natural beauty of the grains that cannot be duplicated by human hands. It is this nostalgic quality of the wood that makes our furniture charming and charismatic.

Camphor wood is another essential timber in construction and carpentry. Its unique aroma and its large tree trunk make it suitable for manufacturing one-piece furniture. We have a series of distinctive designed furniture that embraces these characteristics.
