Since 1989, Business Environment Council has been at the forefront of Hong Kong's sustainable development, striving to build capacity and facilitate action by partnerships with business, government and community groups.
The Business Environment Council (BEC) is the longest running independent, non-profit organization in Hong Kong promoting corporate social and environmental responsibility. Set up by business for business in 1989, BEC offers sustainable business solutions covering baseline assessment, advisory, research, training and award programs for companies across all sectors and at any stage of their corporate sustainability journey.
Leading Responsible Business Over the past two decades, our BEAM (Building Environmental Assessment Method) has certified green building developments encompassing over 90 million square feet of space and over 50,000 residential units. On per capita basis, BEAM is one of the most widely used voluntary green building labelling schemes of its kind in the world. Showcasing Sustainable Development BEC members, customers and partners are at the forefront of the environmental movement in Hong Kong, embracing programs within their sector and making a pro-active contribution and positive impact to the local community. They are leaders and award winners and serve as working proof of the business case for sustainable development.
