The
Alitalia Servizi company came into being on May 1, 2005, with
Fintecna as one of the shareholders. The company providesAlitalia and other airlines with fleet maintenance, airport services, centralised services, as well as IT and telecommunication services.
Maintenance:the wide range of maintenance and servicing activities involves about 3,800 people and concerns not only the technical aspects of aircrafts – for example, the engines – but also the interior, the cabin, the accessories and the onboard entertainment systems. Operations are carried out at regular intervals and vary according to the type of aircraft, the way it is used and the various elements which it is made up of.
AlitaliaAirport: the airport handling company has a workforce of more than 3,200 people and manages a network of nine airports, five in Italy and four abroad. The company provides customer airlines with a range of services such as check-in, boarding and disembarkation, baggage handling, dealing with mislaid luggage, cargo and mail handling, onboard cleaning, ramp services and aircraft centring.
Centralised services:the unit has about 500 people, mostly in Rome with some in Naples and Milan. It deals with various activities mainly in the field of administration and accounting, and supports the admin offices, management of personnel, IT systems and Call Centres.
IT and telecommunication services:the ICT area manages the telecommunications network, the data processing centre (CED) and centralised services. It provides assistance, maintenance and technical support for IT systems, and deals with the main web services (via the Internet and Intranet) which concern Company departments and external users who access them.
