Focus Films is a film company engaged in film production, investment, acquisition, and distribution of motion pictures. The company is helmed by one of Asia's biggest names in the entertainment industry, Andy Lau.
Taking its roots from Teamwork Motion Pictures established in the early 1990s with commercial and critical hits like "Fulltime Killer", "A Fighter’s Blues", "Made in Hong Kong", and other all-time Hong Kong classics like "Saviour of the Soul".
In 2002, Mr. Andy Lau founded Focus Films Limited, and, in 2004, co-invested in the blockbuster "A World Without Thieves" directed by Mr Feng Xiao Gang and "Jiang Hu" directed by prominent young director Wong Ching Po.
In 2005, Focus Films produced a romantic drama, "All About Love".
In 2006, Focus Films launched FOCUS First Cuts - a HD project involving new and upcoming directors from across China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. The project features six films including "Crazy Stone"(China), "I'll Call You"(Hong Kong), "My Mother Is A Belly Dancer" (Hong Kong), "Rain Dogs" (Malaysia), "Love Story"(Singapore) and "The Shoe Fairy" (Taiwan). "Crazy Stone" was a great success in China with over RMB20million box office and all six films are flourishing in both festivals and Asian markets.
In 2007, Focus Films produced "Brothers" which was directed by Derek Chiu starring Michael Miu, Eason Chan and Andy Lau. The film is among one of the top ten films on Hong Kong box office and was well received all over Asian markets.
In 2008, Focus Films will continue the tradition in nurturing talented young generation in film industry by providing them the platform to showcase their movies to a wide range of audience and launch a new project "FOCUS FIGHT" which would introduce a series of ACTION DRAMAS. The new film project will encompass a variety of genre and tastes; and allow young Asian directors to express their innovative vision, as well as reflecting Focus Films' long term commitment to championing the independent spirit in filmmaking, supporting and inspiring dialogue between divergent cultures.
For international sales and distribution, we have over 30 feature films in the catalog.
