Small World International Playgroup was created to provide developmental experiences for babies and toddlers in a fun, relaxed and loving place. The Small World staff are all trained, qualified native English speakers and passionate about the development of the babies and toddlers at Small World. With the curriculum based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as practiced by all nursery schools in the UK, parents have the comfort and joy of knowing that their child is advancing their development with each visit to Small World. You will find at Small World a place for you and your child to socialise, play and participate in group activities with other children and parents. Everyone has fun at Small World-Small World Big Fun!
Small World is not only for the babies and young children, we also encourage attending parents or caregivers to adopt our “development through play” techniques and use them at home. In addition songs sheets are available so that you are able to experience the joy of singing our songs with your child.
SMALL WORLD APPROACH TO LEARNING
The CONTENT of the PLAYGROUP is based on 2 beliefs:
That babies and toddlers learn best when participating in self chosen activities with the guidance of a more knowledgeable other.
During free play periods our native English speaking Playgroup Leaders will spend individual time with each child,guiding and helping so the children can further their play, experience new things and develop their skills while having fun with a toy, game or activity of their choice.
We also believe in the importance of providing a curriculum of well thought out adult led activities.
Each playgroup session has carefully planned activities to stimulate and challenge young minds, exposing them to new experiences and raising their curiosity.
The adult led activities such as circle time with songs, stories, arts and crafts activities are based on a themes which change every 2 months. There are also a wide range of activities targeted at furthering your child's learning and stimulating creativity.
