The Master of Arts Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL) is jointly organized by the School of Continuing and Professional Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The programme has exactly the same structure as the Masters degrees that are offered in Lancaser, and is in every way equivalent in terms of level and coverage of its field.
The degree certificate is identical to the one received by students who choose to study in Lancaster itself.
It is a two-year part-time programme. Tuition fee: HK$ 98,900
To be admitted to the Programme, applicants should: a. hold an upper second class degree from a recognised university, in a relevant area, or an equivalent qualification b. have at least two years' English language teaching experience; and c. be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in spoken and academic written English. The official requirement for applicants whose native language is not English is an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with at least 6.5 in the reading and writing elements and 6.0 in the listening and speaking elements. The university also accepts TOEFL (iBT), Pearson PTE academic, Hong Kong A Level, HKDSE and HKCEE English Language scores [for detailed requirements of the score levels which have been set for each of these, see: http://www.ling.lancs.ac.uk/study/masters/overseas/tesol.htm].
