Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Art and Design in Education
Programme Aims & Learning Outcomes
This programme is tailored for working designers and art/design educators, engaging in-service professionals in developing new practices in a design-driven society. It aims to refine practitioners’ conceptual skills and practical knowledge in relevant disciplines, and facilitate the development of critical perspectives on the issues of design, culture and education in local contexts. The programme also engages educators and design practitioners in teamwork and developing new learning materials and content for our knowledge-based society.
Characteristics
This programme's main focus is on the provision of advanced art and design training at the practical and theoretical levels that are suitable to the local culture and its educational context. The programme offers opportunities in academic research and school-based educational development, as well as art and design experimentation in the workplace. Classes are on weekday evenings and/or weekends
Career Prospects
Graduates pursue careers as culturally sensitive designers and/or art and design educators (teaching up to the post-secondary level) who can articulate design as a means of public education.
