UML had its beginnings in 1974, starting life as a hobby shop, The original UML hobby shop featured an extensive range of plastic kit sets from all over the globe, and was a real hit with modelers in Hong Kong. It gained instant popularity because of its exciting and broad selection of models.
Building on the initial success of this shop, UML was able to expand into the wholesale arena From 1976 onwards, it became the exclusive distributor for various model kit manufacturers in the Hong Kong market, and it was also wholesaling to other local hobby and toy shops.
