The most acclaimed work by French woman playwright Yasmina Reza, Art is an intelligent piece of black comedy. The story tells of three men and how these best pals fall out over a painting. It is a funny, poignant and even philosophical tale about friendship and living.
Art premiered in Paris in 1994 and immediately won the attention of the international theatre circles. The play has been translated into 36 languages and caught the imagination of many. It has since picked up numerous drama awards. Reza is also the first non-English speaking playwright to have won a Tony Award for Best Drama.
Art is to be another award-winning piece directed by Weigo Lee for HKRep since Gin Game.
