Sonatrope is an independent film festival featuring recent films related to musical genres driven by youth. The festival seeks to highlight the significant communities that are formed around the love of music in an increasingly globalized era, revealing the influence, interpretation, and critical re-imagining of commercial culture. From underground cultures to commercialized ethos, the featured films explore aspects of hip-hop, punk, riot grrrl, electro, and noise pop.
