A global giant as far as awards go – the AR Awards for Emerging Architecture 2006 spotlights the year’s most ingenious conceptions and defines the current state of the industry

Each year the world’s oldest architectural publication, The Architectural Review, honours young, emerging architects in what has become, during the eight years of its existence, one of the most interesting awards programmes anywhere. Fully international and objective, the awards serve to spotlight good work from all over, usually by names we haven’t heard much of, and heralding (and helping) glowing future careers. The prize money is negligible, but the accompanying privilege is considerable, because of the prestige of the awards themselves, the very stiff competition, and the general quality of the work......
