2007 will be another historic year for Hong Kong: the 10th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It coincides with a time when several major public policy initiatives affecting everyone for the long term are being debated - the Goods and Services Tax (GST), Competition Law, Population Policy, Minimum Wage, Healthcare Financing, Environment and Air Pollution - as China's 11th Five-Year Plan is being implemented.
This 13th Annual Hong Kong Business Summit, presented by The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) in association with The Wall Street Journal Asia, will feature speakers addressing these important issues. A panel of HKGCC General Committee members will be invited to discuss the way forward in an interactive session with the audience.
The conference will begin with the HKSAR Financial Secretary the Honourable Henry Tang giving the government's view on how to maintain Hong Kong as an international city in the face of the ongoing policies challenges. Hong Kong's economic future will be the subject of presentations by three distinguished business leaders, followed by a panel discussion with members of HKGCC's General Committee. Mr David Eldon, Chairman of the HKGCC, will be the luncheon keynote speaker to close the conference.
