About Asia Pacific Schools
apss-playerAsia Pacific Soccer Schools is a soccer coaching school based in Hong Kong, with connections around the region and further afield. We coach both boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 14, at clubs and open venues across Hong Kong. Regardless of their ability, all players will enjoy our unique brand of coaching, as we strive to bring out the best in every individual.
APSS Philosophy
Our guiding philosophy is to create a love of the game of soccer from a very young age. As the children grow older and become more confident, we encourage them to play as individuals within a team, to master ball handling and be creative with the ball. Through this basic philosophy, their understanding of the game will improve, their confidence will grow and their love of 'the beautiful game' will flourish.
APSS Objective
No matter what level or age a player may be, our ultimate objective is to ensure that a child is learning by enjoying maximum engagement time with the ball as much as possible. We achieve this by ensuring that essential soccer-related core skills are practiced and repeated - individually, in pairs or through small-sided games. Our small-sided games allow children the chance to get more 'touches' and time 'on the ball', through increased dribbling, passing, shooting and decision-making opportunities. These drills and games help to teach and refine these core skills in actual match-like situations.
APSS Academy
Our Academy program is an elite, high-level program, where the training at all ages takes place in a more challenging environment and is more specific to a child's long-term aims. The Academy has a unique 'culture', specifically designed to nurture the pursuit of excellence: we have created an environment where players of similar attitudes and abilities participate in structured training sessions and matches, in either leagues or tournaments. The Academy is not for everyone. Players are first invited to try out and are then required to meet or exceed certain achievement benchmarks in order to maintain their attendance. The Academy also has the obligation to 'deliver' players to their 'destination'. In our opinion, it is not enough for a soccer program just to accept a player - this does not make a program 'an academy'. APSS' Academy promises to provide high achievers with a well-marked path to elite play, as well as a clear plan to deliver players to their highest achievable destination or professional placement.
