Why Nail Trimming?
Dogs need to have their nails trimmed regularly. They can't do it by themselves. Overgrown nails can: - Cause a dog's foot to splay, which can lead to lameness. Gait and posture problems are an early warning sign that the dog's nails are getting too long.
- Rip clothing and scratch someone's skin as well as furniture, walls, etc.
Both owners and Groomers alike often overlook the dewclaw. That's because it is mostly hidden from view due to long fur growth at the wrist area of the dog's arm. This also needs to be trimmed. If not, sometimes it grows long enough to dig deep into your doggie's wrist and cause bleeding. If you see him licking at his wrist, then maybe it's time to check to see if the dewclaw is too long.
