Bethan arrived in Hong Kong on 1st January 1999. Her first 4 years were spent working for the Hong Kong Youth Arts Festival as a project manager during which time she set up several choirs as well as musical directing two flagship shows: 'Little Shop Of Horrors' and 'Bugsy'.
Since establishing Katterwall in October 2002, Bethan has been involved in the many varied elements of music making: She conducts Kassia Women's Choir and Kassia Men's Chorus, was MD and chairman of the Cecilian Singers (an SATB chamber choir) from 2002 – 04, was a part time lecturer in Musical Theatre at the HKAPA from 2002 – 07, teaches music theory, history and appreciation to children and adults in the Katterwall studio and has been a guest conductor / workshop leader for various schools and corporations. Bethan is also a part-time presenter for RTHK Radio 4 and can currently be heard presenting 'Non-Stop Classics' on weekday mornings.
As a performer, Bethan has worked in many genres: musical theatre, classical, corporate entertainment, educational recording work, TV and film recording. Her passions are musical theatre and English choral music. Amongst others, she has worked with the HK Philharmonic Chorus, HK Bach Choir, HK Chamber Orchestra, St. John's College Chorale, ACT, HK Players and Lindsey McAlister Productions.
Celia Leung - General Manager
Celia is Hong Kong born Chinese with over 15 years singing experience. She has sung with the Cecilian Singers, Hong Kong Voices, HKU Union Choir, HKU University Choir, Niderosdomen Girls' Choir (Norway) and Heavenly Voices - where she first met Bethan in 2000. As a conductor, Celia conducted her secondary school and university choirs.
After completing a music degree at the University of Hong Kong, Celia began her arts administration career as a Customer Services Officer for the Hong Kong Arts Festival. She then worked as an Administration Coordinator for local theatre group "Edward Lam Dance Theatre" before joining Katterwall. Celia also teaches for the Hong Kong Treble Choir. In 2009, Celia assisted in vocal coaching for Complaints Choir Hong Kong and led the group to premier their song on 1st July 2009 at Victoria Park.
Wyman Yuen - Administration Manager
Wyman graduated with a Music Degree in Performance and Teaching from Trinity College of Music, London with Ms Elena Riu and completed her MMus in Historical Musicology at Goldsmiths University, London before returning to Hong Kong in 2004. Wyman is a piano teacher and accompanist, appearing in various concerts and festivals. Prior joining Katterwall as an Administration Manager she was Assistant Manager at a local theatre company, coordinating musical courses, workshops and performances.
Andrew Swift - Teacher, Performer, Conductor
Andrew trained in Musical Theatre Performance at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. Prior to this he spent three years training with the National Youth Music Theatre of Great Britain.
As an actor he has appeared in numerous television commercials, West End and touring theatre productions, including the UK tour of Evita and the West End production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap. He has worked as Musical Director on the musicals, Merrily We Roll Along, Just So, Curse Of The Werewolf, Sugar, Shake, Ripple and Roll and Hair and was Assistant Musical Director on a production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street, all in London.
He has taught at a number of London drama schools including the Arts Educational School. He has just finished two years as a Vocal Coach and Musical Director at the British Record Industry Trust (BRIT) School for Performing Arts in London.
