You are already pretty good at English. You have been to English language schools just for the competitive edge in your company / at school, only to find that they would get you to buy a textbook and -- having paid almost 15k for the whole package -- you were learning the same old stock expressions that the intermediates may find handy -- you were left out. $15,000 wasted on nothing -- not to mention the hours!
Or you are in the middle of a huge business project. You are going to give a sales presentation and want to impress a very important English-speaking client. But lo and behold, your English teacher is paid by the hour and she wouldn't care to prep the extra hours reading your brief. Well, maybe she would point out a few slips of tongue but seriously, you have this feeling that it's all wasted on her. Staying up all night preparing a slick brief you get cross with her lack of professionalism -- a gross understatement of how you really feel.
Or you are preparing for the IELTS, DSE, an important job interview, or just trying to impress your English speaking boyfriend / girlfriend. What matters is you know you are quite good at English, and you are not happy with it. You want to do even better.
If it's not you I have been talking about, then save your time and money. Go buy a self help book or something. Shoot me an email and I can give you a list.
If, and only if, you are one of those people who have a hard time getting their niche right, then I am here for you.
Sounds familiar? I teach English to people of all ages and different nationalities, and I spent 4 years teaching in a language school. Some teachers may be TESOL-certified (and some do not even have that), but they are just that -- teachers. You need something more.
What I can do for you:
Ever wondered how to present an abstract idea without losing the audience or your cogency? Lawyers do that day in and day out in front of some of the world's toughest audiences. Having been legally trained, I can show you just how you keep your cool in front of your audience, be it a prospective employer, a skeptical client, or your boyfriend / girlfriend -- and more importantly, what you can do if and when you flip.
The best part of it -- I speak Cantonese (as my first language) and I know exactly what parts of language learning are hard to iron out. I sound just like a native English speaker and can help you get rid of your Cantonese accent if that's what you want with my own brand of training. My IELTS results from February just came back to me with an 8.5 in speaking (native speaker average was 7.4 as of 2012. cf: http://www.ielts.org/researchers/analysis-of-test-data/test-taker-performance-2012.aspx). You won't find many Cantonese speakers with that kind of score.
Yes? No?
I do not come cheap. But you WILL get your money's worth, and unlike a language school, I am largely flexible. What matters is you get your results, and I get a happy client. Write me an email and we can work something out. ([email protected])
IMPORTANT NOTICE: While I am legally trained, I do not, and will not, give any legal advice related to Hong Kong or any jurisdiction. If you want to get it, hire a lawyer. If you are doing law school and you want help with your assignments, do them yourself. Hard work is the only way out.
