Star Company was founded forty five years ago in 1964. We have thirty master carvers in our China factory who carve mammoth tusk into many different forms. While ivory is banned from international trade, mammoth tusk is reasonably plentiful and doesn’t harm any living animals. We can export our carvings to almost all countries without any trouble. We also carve wood and hippo teeth.
We are most famous for carving netsuke. These small carvings from mammoth tusk are each painstakingly carved by hand. Each one takes from one to two days to craft and each one is one-of-a-kind. No two are exactly alike. Our largest carvings use a large piece of mammoth tusk and may take a year or more to carve. But our smallest carvings are ojime, tiny little figures of people, animals and other shapes.
We also make necklaces from Chinese freshwater pearls and gemstones along with matching earrings.
