Kanchan Couture is the creative vision of fashion designer, Kanchan Panjabi. “Kanch” as shelikes to be known, returned to Hong Kong from London to launch her own label, KanchanCouture. Kanchs passion is to transform classic shapes from a bygone era, combining opulent Indian textiles, creating a wearable modernity for everywoman.

Since the brands inception in September 2007, Kanch has developed a reputation for designingluxurious and elegant womens wear and accessories. Her inspiration is derived from India, her country of origin.

“It all began with an image of my mother seated on a bike in 1960s India. I fell in love with the image, as it portrays who I really am; my Indian roots yet a child of a hybrid world.”

There are Indian influences throughout the collections, the use of authentic Indian textiles, all sourced from Bangalore and Delhi. The prints, which she designs, have an Indian essence to them and the vibrant colors used remind us of an Indian heritage and its inherent beauty.

Kanch studied in New York where she graduated in Economics and French. After this she moved to London to work with fashion designer, Amanda Wakeley and embarked upon a MA in fashion design and enterprise. She was lucky enough to have had great mentors such as ZowieBroach from Boudicca and Shelly Fox.

Kanchan Couture has built a reputation for dressing some of Hong Kongs celebrities with exciting colours, exotic shapes and trend-setting designs. The company has participated in fashion shows around the globe, worked with high profile corporations and nominated for prestigious awards like Business Weeks Creative Entrepreneur of the Year Award and Prospective Magazines 40 Under 40 Design Award. Designer and visionary for the company, Kanch celebrates her designs most recently with the announcement of her jewellery collection.

Products: Under the Kanchan Couture label, there are four lines: the demi couture, ready to wear – “Kanch” by Kanchan Couture, Kanchan Couture Bridal and now Kanchan Couture Jewellery.
