The first thing you need to know is how heavy is the pictures or artwork you are going to hang. 

This is important as there are different loading or allowable weight specifications for different hanging system or methods. So choosing the right system will protect your artwork and save you lots of trouble in the long run.

Then you have to decide how frequent, you will change, re-arrange, add or remove your artworks or pictures. The more those changes happen, the more flexible you need your picture hanging system should be.

On the other hand, if you rarely changes or arrange your pictures, then you may just consider using the most traditional method of hanging, i.e. using wall nails or screws. But then, you might end up with holes on your wall.
